Helena Moreira has a PhD in Health Psychology from the University of Coimbra and is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Cognitive and Behavioral Center for Research and Intervention of the University of Coimbra.
Her research focuses on understanding how parenting styles and practices and the parent-child relationship can influence several aspects of the psychosocial functioning of children, both in normative contexts and in the context of a pediatric chronic health condition. She is particularly interested in the study of the link between adult attachment and parenting practices as well as in the application of third wave CBT to parenting, particularly in the study of mindful parenting. She is also interested in studying the mechanisms of the intergenerational transmission of self-compassion and emotion regulation.
